This young White man was a member of Ben Klassen's Church of Creativity. Ben Smith was a Creator and he knew Matt Hale. Matt Hale held him in high regard. You will see some rare film footage of Ben Smith speaking.



Between July 2nd and 4th, 1999, Benjamin Smith went on a drive-by shooting spree across Illinois and Indiana, targeting racial and religious minorities.



Over the course of those three days, Smith killed two people.



His first victim was a Black former head basketball coach at Northwestern University. His second was an Asian doctoral student at Indiana University.



Smith also wounded nine other people. He wounded 6 Jews, 2 Asians and one Black.



Smith was never tried, convicted, or sentenced for any of these attacks.



On July 4th, 1999, while fleeing police during a high-speed chase in southern Illinois, Smith took his own life by shooting himself.



The killing spree ended with his death—and without a trial.
